Oliver's Labels vs. Mabel's Labels

I've ordered both Oliver's Labels and Mabel's Labels and I just wanted to post my opinion on the 2.

Mabel's Labels have pretty basic designs, but they offer lots of icon options to add to the labels. They do offer free shipping in Canada. When I was doing my research on them, their stick on clothing labels, called Tag-Mates™, got the best reviews. I wasn't blown away by them, but I know that they are a good, functional product. I quite liked the Bag Tags that I received in the package I ordered.

Oliver's Labels are much nicer to look at. They offer lots of really cute designs and they are really colourful! When I received my order, I instantly wanted to place another order. There are so many designs to choose from, I'll definitely purchase one of their packages in order to pick different designs. While doing my research, Oliver's Labels Shoe Labels got great reviews. Also, Oliver's Labels offers the Found-it™ tracking system.

So, which one did I prefer? Definitely Oliver's Labels because they are so darn cute and I love the cute and colourful labels.

Oliver's Labels

Since I am returning to work and my daughter is going into daycare, I need to label everything that I will be sending along with her. I just can't afford to be purchasing things twice!

I came across a Canadian company, Oliver's Labels, that you can order personalized labels, iron-on labels, bag tags, shoe labels, etc. On some labels, there is even a tracking system, "Found It," so that if an item does get lost, the person who found it can go onto the website and enter the information and then Oliver's Labels sends a notification email out to your address. This would be extremely helpful for parents of school children.

I ordered 100 of their Mini Labels, which are made of a high performance vinyl and are weather-proof, waterproof, tear-resistant, scuff-proof, etc. I put the order in with Oliver's Labels late yesterday afternoon and I got an email a short time ago saying that it had already been shipped! Impressive! Also, the shipping charges were only $1.50, but if you spend $30 or more, shipping is free.

I'll be sure to post a review as soon as I receive them, in the meantime, be sure to check out all that Oliver's Labels has to offer!!

Tinysoles

I received my order from tinysoles.com and I am quite impressed!

The package arrived so much sooner than I had expected and I have to say ~ they really take the time to put a little something special into their packaging! The shoes and the hair clip were all wrapped in bright tissue paper. It was like opening a birthday present! They had enclosed in the box a little sucker in the shape of a foot - totally cute! Plus, the shipping to Canada was totally free and I didn't have to pay any duty ~ on top of that all their prices are great!! Oh, and I received a 10% off code to use on my next purchase!

I would highly recommend tinysoles to all my friends!

Elephant Shoe

Elephant Shoe, another Canadian website, is going out of business and they have a lot of items on sale. They currently only ship within Canada and offer free shipping in Winnipeg.

They have some really cute and unique baby/children's clothing items, but it seems the sizes are fairly limited. I better see what they've got before everything is sold out!!

Born in Canada

A Canadian website, Born in Canada, which is based out of Ontario, sells Canadian made clothing with Canadian made fabrics.

They have a lot of clothing with Canadian flags, so if you are very patriotic, then this is a great website for you to check out!

Gingerbread Monkeys

Ooooh, I always love finding a new Canadian website!!

Gingerbread Monkeys has a load of baby and kids items. Right now they are offering 15% off their entire store and it expires Sept. 8th, 2009, so make sure you take a peek at their website.

They also have a lot of items on sale right now. I need to spend some time to check out all the cool things they've got. One item that I've never seen before is "momspit," which is a no rinse cleanser for those times when you don't have access to a soap and a sink. Looks like a pretty neat product.

The shipping charges aren't too bad. Within Canada ~ $5.95 for orders up to $20, $7.95 from $20.01 - $50 and so on. Orders over $150.01 include free shipping.

Baby Planet Boutique

Wow, I can't believe that it's September already. Time just goes by way too fast.

I found this website, Baby Planet Boutique, which is a local company. It seems strange that it took me all this time to find them.

They've got some neat items that I've never seen before. Trumpette socks is one of them. There is a set of the cutest little golf socks for girls. If your husband is a golfer, this would be a cute idea to put on your little girl!

Oh, and they also sell the Sleep Sheep, which I am a big fan of. I think I'll go and check out what else they have. I've got my eye on a few things!!

Well.ca

Well.ca sells baby and kid items, such as diaper cream, formula, wipes, etc. It's an online drugstore that also sells products for adults. They offer FREE SHIPPING to anywhere in Canada, so that is a bonus!

While searching for a certain diaper cream, I stumbled upon their website. I've ordered from them once and would definitely reccomend them.

Baby Steals - Dwell Studio

A couple weeks ago I order the Dwell Studio Weekender Bag from Baby Steals. As most of you know, I live in Canada, which makes shopping online a little more costly with shipping charges and duty. I did a blog post on my purchase and I was so happy because it was only $.01 for shipping, but I totally expected to pay duty when it got here. Well, I just went to my mailbox and there was a key to the parcel compartment.....I opened it up and there was the Dwell Studio Weekender Bag!!! No duty!! Yay!

This was a much better deal than I had originally thought!! Lovin' BabySteals.com even more now!

CanadianBabies

I get regular emails from the CanadianBabies website and I've often found some good information and good websites from this one.

CanadianBabies is an online directory for everything that has to do with babies. In the emails that I receive from them, they profile a few different companies and I do believe they only profile Canadian companies. This is how I became familiar with Simply Colors.

You know when you receive emails regularly from certain websites, often you just delete them right away. Well, this is one that I definitely open and take a look at.

Make sure you check it out!

JC Penney

I found a coupon code that gets you 40% off up to 2 regular priced items! Just go onto JCPenney.com, add the items to your cart and then it will ask you for a promo code and you will enter CSM25GO and you will receive the 40% discount. I believe this one is good until September.

They've got some really cute baby clothes! I've fallen in love with a few things and just can't decide what to get.

Shipping to Canada is $13 and that includes all that icky duty stuff!!

Robeez

Robeez has their FREE SHIPPING promotion on again. If you buy 2 pairs of shoes you do not pay for shipping. Whenever I buy from them, I always buy 2 pairs anyways, so this is a bonus for me!

This promotion is good in Canada and in the US.

Online Coupon Codes

I am so amazed at how much the Internet can be helpful in getting the BEST deal on things. Whenever I'm looking to purchase something online, I start off by doing a search for that item. I can usually find a couple stores that have it. Then I do a search for coupon codes for those particular stores and I can almost ALWAYS find a code. Then I work out the best deal, with shipping, deducting the discount, etc. and then I make my purchase!

I was looking at something on jcpenney.com and I searched for coupon codes. I found one for $10 off any purchase of $10 or more, I found one for 40% off regular priced items, and I could go on.

It just goes to show you how a little time (if you've got it) and research can save you money!

Thursday, August 20, 2009

Please Mum

Please Mum has FREE SHIPPING right now! Plus, if you need to return something, you can just take it back to the store (if you've got one close by). This makes shopping so much easier! Isn't it fun to get deliveries to your house!!

They've got a lot of things on clearance right now and if you buy 3 items, you get an additional 15% off, 5 items you get an additional 20% off.

Check out their website www.pleasemum.com

Hautelook

I was referred to this website by a friend quite a while ago and I just recently bought something from them. Hautelook is a place where you designer clothing lovers can purchase items at discounted prices. They email you what designers are on sale for a certain period of time and then you can browse and purchase. They've had Fendi, Tag Heurer watches, Coach, etc. (just to name a few!).

I purchased a black top and khaki linen pants by Chase 'n Sky for my daughter. The original price on the 2 items was $65 and I purchased for $30. They had a "free shipping" promotion and I just HAD to take advantage of it.

Also, if you refer a friend to Hautelook and they make a purchase, you receive a $10 credit.

Stuck on You

Stuck on You is my latest find. You can order personalized labels for various things. If you have a child going into daycare or going to school, you can order labels to put in their shoes or iron-on clothing labels with their names on them. They even have wrist tags that you can write names on. This would be great if you were going somewhere with a large group. Oh, there are way too many things for me to list, so check it out - shipping is free, which I LOVE!

I'm sure I'll be ordering something soon!

Baby Steals

No, my baby doesn't steal. It's a website, silly!

You know, I'm not exactly sure how I find these websites, but I do. Well, I admit that I'm always looking for new online stores that will ship to Canada for a decent price, especially when it's something that you can't find in Canada!

So this website is called Baby Steals and each day they have a "Today's Steal" that is at a great price, compared to the original price, of course! Last week I purchased a Dwell Studio Weekender bag for my daughter. The original price was approximately $230 USD and I purchased it for $75 (shipping was $.01, yes 1 cent!). Ok, I know, that is still quite expensive, but I do love expensive things!!!

The Simply Colors t-shirt went over very well at the birthday party. This is such a great gift idea and if you're like me and love online shopping, then it's double the fun!

Hmmm....who is having a birthday soon?? This would also be a great idea as a gift for a grandma or grandpa if you put "I love Grandma" or something like that on there. So many possibilities!!

Simply Colors

I just wanted to mention a website that I came across a little bit ago. It's called Simply Colors and you can order personalized t-shirts and other types of children's clothing. I ordered a t-shirt for my daughter and it's super cute. It's a little big for her now, but I can't wait until she fits into it. I'm sure we'll get lots of compliments. I also ordered a t-shirt as a birthday gift, so I'll let you all know how that goes over.

I didn't know this at the time I ordered my shirts, but if you become a fan of Simply Colors on Facebook, they will give you a code to receive 10% off your order!

Oh, and I must tell you that I placed my order on Wednesday and received it on Friday. What great service! I'm looking forward to ordering something else, I just can't decided what I'd like to get.

Another One of my Faves...

I totally forgot to add this to my 'favourites' list. Now, this is one thing that is just for mom!

Spanx is a MUST HAVE for after you've had your baby. Depending on what you choose, they just keep you feeling a little tighter in the tummy area and I have to say that it feels so much better to wear them. Of course I don't wear them all the time because they are fairly expensive, but if I could, I would! I wish that I'd had mine right away after I had my daughter, but I got them a few months later. So if you know a mom-to-be, make sure she has these for after the baby. I do believe they even have ones for during pregnancy as well.

Some Hot Air Feels Good!

Wow, my baby slept long enough for me to have a shower AND.......I blowed dried my hair for the first time in I don't know how long. Kind of a funny thing because I used to be very faithful at getting ready for the day and now putting something other than pyjamas on is my idea of 'getting ready.' So I feel great right now! This means I need to go out into public today. Seriously, why waste a good shower!!

I noticed over the past couple weeks that it seems like I'm losing a lot of hair. I'm not sure if it's just because I had my baby or what. Obviously I'm hoping that's the reason. I know that during pregnancy you tend not to lose as much and then after the baby is born it goes back to normal, but my baby is almost 9 months old and I'm just noticing it now. I'd be interested in knowing if anyone else has experienced the same thing.

My Favourite Things...

I was thinking of what I would have found helpful when I first brought my daughter home. I would have liked to know what sorts of things new parents couldn't live without and what their favourite baby items were. So here goes my list:

1. Wipes warmer. I got the Prince Lionheart Ultimate Wipes Warmer about 1.5 months after she was born and I LOVE it!! Still use it faithfully and it's so much nicer on that tender little tushie. Too bad I didn't have it right away.

2. Bert's Bees Daiper Ointment. I purchased almost every diaper cream on the market and this one has been the very best (smells nice too!). After 8 months, I'm just finishing up my second tube, that's how long it lasts.

3. The onesies that have snaps up the front. I bought the "George" brand onesies from Walmart. I believe they were $10 for 3 and they were by far the best ones, especially when she was first born. It's so much easier to get them into those rather than go over their heads and they are generous with the size, so they can wear them for quite a while.

4. Dr. Brown's Natural Flow bottles. My daughter was extremely gassy and I tried a few different kinds of bottles and eventually bought these ones. She is not gassy at all anymore and we've been using these for about 7 months now. Such a lifesaver!

5. A bouncy chair is a must have. I received the Fisher Price Rainforest Bouncer as a gift and it was wonderful! She doesn't use it anymore, but for the first few months it's really great! It lights up and plays music, which means that you can get some things done!! Hands free is always good!

6. A Bumbo!! From about 3 months they can start sitting in this and it's such a cool thing to have. We used this daily and even fed her in it for a while. At 8 months she can still use it. I take it outside on the deck and she'll eat in it which is much easier than trying to get the highchair out there.

7. Phil & Ted's Sport Buggy. I love this stroller, but I can't say that I even looked any other stroller before I purchased this one. Two of our friends with children said that they wished they had purchased this stroller when they had their 1st baby, so we decided to take their advice and it was great advice! It is so easy to manoeuvre, I can use 1 hand to push it and the other to drink my coffee! Plus, it has an attachment for a second child so I won't be having to buy another stroller if we decide to have one more.

8. Pampers. I tried Huggies and they always leaked. I'm sure different babies need different types of diapers, but I'm all for Pampers!! Plus, they smell nice.

9. The Sleep Sheep On the Go. We got this a gift when she was 5 months old and I wish that we'd had it when she was a newborn. It totally calms her wherever we are and it attaches to whatever you want. Ours goes from the car seat to the stroller. We DO NOT leave home without it and I'm always getting asked where I got it from. It makes a great gift for new parents!

10. BundleMe by JJ Cole. My daughter was born in the winter and this was perfect for her! We didn't have to dress her in a bunch of hot clothes, just whatever was good for being indoors and then you just zip them up. She didn't ever overheat and it was so snugly. Now it's the summertime and I've switched to something that just goes in the car seat without a cover.

11. Any kind of toy that attaches to the car seat or stroller. Keeping them entertained when you are on the go is a smart thing to do!

12. A sun cover for your stroller. I've got the UV Sunny Days cover for my Phil & Ted's Stroller and I'm sure people wonder what I've got hiding in my stroller, but it keeps the sun out, UV rays and bugs too! I've been using it all summer long.

Crying vs. Whining

My daughter is such a good baby, she rarely ever cries unless she really needs something. This can work to her disadvantage at times because when she does cry, it's just that much more irritating. If she cried all the time, I would probably be a little more immune to it, but I'm not. I don't find crying as bad as whining. Whining is like nails on the chalkboard. Last night she was quite irritable and I was SURE that there would be a tooth today. Nope, no tooth today.

Free the PIGGIES!!

While we were out today, my daughter took her little shoe off. I don't always make her wear shoes, but since she's been wanting to stand up way more, I put them on her when we go out. I'll also mention how absolutely adorable these little Robeez are. They are brown with big polka dots on them and they matched her dress perfectly. So after the shoe came off, the look of relief swept over her face. You could almost hear her say, "AHHHHHHHHHHHH."

Why do they have to make shoes for babies so darn cute? If it's best that they don't really wear them and they don't really need them, why make them irresistable?? I'm a sucker for these types of things!!!
